When Covid-19 became a reality the staff, board and volunteers of the JCC quickly regrouped to find new ways for continuing to support the community. Within days of the shutdown a new site was up and running, offering a host of programs, services, group chats, entertainment, and more.
Staff members made personal phone calls to each and every JCC member to offer assistance with the changes, advice on how to manage the new online system, or simply console those who felt isolated and alone.
“We are forever grateful for your remarkable effort during times like these”
“I felt so lonely and then you reached out. No other place I have belonged to has ever done this”
$7,500 Value
And the work has not stopped.
Since reopening its doors the gratitude from members has been palpable.
The JCC hosted a fun summer camp, helping kids be kids. The JCC has led the way in supportive preschool, and made history as the first indoor pool to safely reopen in Vancouver and as the first daytime senior care program to reopen in BC.
“Given the multiple constraints you were faced with, I can barely believe that camp was an option this year. But I was very confident about my decision to send my kids to camp…”
“Well done, amazing job adjusting to the unique situation”
